2nd Dan
For a 2nd Dan grading, a minimum of 2 kata must be demonstrated to the examiner. A kata from option A will be chosen by the student and a kata from option B will be chosen by the examiner.

3rd Dan
For 3rd Dan and above, a kata from option A will be chosen by the student and a kata from option B will be chosen by the examiner just as the 2nd Dan grading. However, Bunkai must also be demonstrated. The kata being demonstrated will be chosen by the student, but the kata demonstrated must be different for the next grading of 4th Dan.
