The winter grading event where students can register to be assessed to demonstrate their karate skills, techniques and knowledge. Successful students will be presented their new rank in a presentation at the end of the event.
As we near the event, students will need to register to attend this event so we can prepare for the number attending. Please talk to any of the black belt team or Karen Payne at a training session.
Those attending the event for assessment must pay the grading fee in advance.
All graded students must keep an up to date karate license, which must be in place ahead of the event. New licenses, and license renewals, must be paid for ahead of the event.
You can read more about our ranks, grading rules, and how grading works. The video below is a great way to see what to expect on the day!
Things to remember about the grading event:
The grading starts promptly at 1pm and ends when the final presentation is made. It is expected that students attend the entire event from start to finish. Leaving early may result in your grade not being awarded.
Students are encouraged to attend early to stretch and run through any final preparation. The training hall will be open and available to students from 12pm.
When taking a grading it is important to present well, with a clean and pressed gi, clean hands and feet and trimmed nails.
When the grading is finished and presentations have been complete, the bar will open and a buffet will be available for all those taking part.
